Armada Data Corporation (TMX-V:ARD) is an emerging leader in the supply and commercialization of data for institutional and retail clients. The Company creates, owns, and operates income producing automobile web sites in both the Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Consumer (B2C) verticals. Based in Mississauga, Ontario, Armada Data commenced operations in July 1999 and currently has eighteen employees.
Armada Data collects automobile data (including manufacturer’s new car retail and wholesale pricing and factory incentives) and dealer data (including a full list of all dealers in Canada and their contact information and mark-up/selling prices). The Company then repackages and reformats this information into a written and a web-based format and sells it to corporate customers (primarily insurance companies), new-car retail buyers, small fleet vehicle buyers, and marketing agencies.
Due to the proprietary nature of the vast majority of the Company’s data, the barrier to entry into Armada Data’s business remains very high. Currently, to the best of Management’s knowledge, there is no other company offering a similar range of products and services or having the ability to deliver these kinds of products and services on-line.
A growing economy leads to more cars sold, thereby generating a potentially larger market opportunity for all of Armada Data’s divisions. A slowing economy can motivate consumers and insurers to become more informed and cost conscious when making a large purchase thereby increasing market penetration rates during recessionary environments. This effect of increased market share during a recessionary environment is currently baring fruit for your company.
